Guide to Compare Gas Plans in QLD
HOW DO I COMPARE PLANS WITH MOVE-IN CONNECT?
We have carefully selected a panel of some of the leading gas suppliers Brisbane and South-East Queensland so you can compare with confidence. One of our experts will guide you through the decision-making process to find you a money-saving option.
To compare gas plans QLD, we will look at the following features from our panel of QLD gas providers:
Rates
Each of our gas suppliers Queensland offers plans with a different daily supply charge and usage charge. Finding the lowest rates is one of the most important factors to save on your bill.
You should also consider if you want a fixed rate or variable plan. Fixed-rate plans usually have a higher usage charge, but the price is guaranteed, even if the cost of gas skyrockets. This can give you peace of mind in a volatile market.
Special offers and bundles
When you move with us, we will make sure you take advantage of the latest special offers from our providers. These include sign-up credits or seasonal special offers such as EOFY sales. Some offers also give you lower rates for the duration of the benefit period, which is usually 6 to 12 months.
An energy bundle means combining your electricity and gas plan with one provider. In doing so you can unlock some great benefits such as lower rates or sign-up bonuses.
Other incentives and rewards
To find the best plan to suit your needs, you should also consider other money-saving incentives and rewards. This can include features such as no lock-in contracts or exit fees, pay on-time discounts and discounts for paperless bills and paying by direct debit.
Several retailers also have a Rewards Shop, where you can earn points when you pay your bill, and exchange them in the shop for rewards such as movies, theme parks, hotels, dining experiences and much more.
Queensland energy concessions and rebates
The federal and Queensland Governments offer help with energy bills to eligible concession cardholders, including Queensland Seniors Card, Services Australia or Department of Veterans’ Affairs Pensioner Concession Card, Services Australia Health Care Card, Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card and Asylum seekers with an ImmiCard.
The rebate (in 2022) is $340.85 per year for electricity and $76.19 per year for natural gas. Visit the Queensland Government energy rebate page for more information.
Natural gas vs LPG
For Queenslanders who are not connected to the grid, there are alternatives to natural gas suppliers QLD. Ask a Move-In Connect expert about LPG bottled gas to give you all the same benefits as natural gas.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR BILL
Your gas bill is made up of three charges, which will be broken down for you to see.
- Supply charge. This is the cost per day charged by your distributor for the supply of gas from the generators to your home. In Queensland, the distributors are Australian Gas Networks and APT Allgas.
- Consumption charge. This is the cost per megajoule (MJ) of the gas you use. This cost is based on the rate, special offer or bundle you sign up for, so it pays to shop around to find the best deal.
- Rebate – if you are eligible for a Queensland energy rebate, this will be deducted from your bill.
When you first make the switch to a new provider you may have to pay a one-off connection fee. The connection fee for each of the gas providers Queensland is in the table below.
Distributor | Gas Connection Fee* |
Australian Gas Networks | $76 |
APT Allgas | $77.93 |
*Fees correct at December 2022
