Belong is a subsidiary of Telstra, which was established in 2013. It currently services over 600,000 customers with its broadband and mobile offerings. Their plans are available across Australia and are suited to individuals and families, although their multi-device plans could be used for small businesses.

Belong offers 3G and 4G mobile data and broadband plans, with coverage of 98.5% of Australia. They do not offer 5G plans yet, with the aim of keeping costs low for customers by using the existing 3G and 4G networks. 

Belong is Australia’s first carbon-neutral mobile and internet provider, so if you’re passionate about your impact on the planet, they are an excellent choice for you. They are accredited by the government’s Climate Active initiative and offset their carbon by investing in Australian renewable energy projects and other United Nations certified projects. And it’s important to note that they are doing this without passing on any of the cost to customers.

MyRepublic

MyRepublic was established in 2011, with its headquarters in Singapore. They expanded to Australia in 2016, and now service Singapore, New Zealand, Australia and Indonesia with affordable internet and energy plans.

MyRepublic NBN plans are designed to be simple and fuss-free. Every plan includes unlimited data and no set-up fees if you BYO modem. You can choose to add a TP-Link VR2100v modem for an upfront cost of $279, or $10 per month over 24 months. The Starter plan is just $59 per month, with no lock-in contract and is perfect for customers with basic internet needs. TPG

TPG was founded in 1986 as the Total Peripherals Group. In July 2020, they became part of the TPG Telecom Limited group of companies, following the merger of TPG and Vodafone Hutchison Australia. The TPG Telecom group is now Australia’s second biggest fixed line broadband provider. TPG owns end-to-end network infrastructure, including extensive national and international fibre optic networks, which means it can take responsibility for every stage of the services they offer.

The TPG Telecom Group services over 2 million customers, with TPG connecting over 800,000 NBN customers. Their Australia-wide network includes Australia’s largest internet exchange and third largest metropolitan fibre optic network, so it’s more than likely you’ll be covered!

TPG offers a range of NBN, 5G and wireless home internet plans to cater to a variety of needs. Plus, their flexible, no lock-in contracts make them perfect for renters who might need to change plans at short notice.

For customers with basic internet needs, the unlimited data wireless plan starts from $54.99 per month, including a modem, and offers a slightly cheaper alternative to the NBN. If your internet needs are more serious, the Home Superfast and Home Ultrafast plans offer unlimited data and high speeds for $124.99 per month and $144.99 per month, with discounted rates available for the first 6 months.

Bundle discounts are available for TPG customers saving $10 per month if you have your internet and mobile with them, and you can make an additional saving by choosing the BYO modem option.

Vodafone

Vodafone is an international telecommunications company, founded in the UK in 1984. They established their Australian branch in 1992, and most recently became part of the TPG Telecom Group in July 2020, along with TPG. As an international brand, Vodafone is leading the way when it comes to 5G, with a presence in 15 countries, including the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy and New Zealand – more than any other 5G provider.

Vodafone offers mobile, internet and NBN plans across Australia and are rolling out 5G services in selected areas of major Australian cities. 

Although they are a global company, Vodafone Australia proudly employs approximately 1,500 people across their offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth offices and the contact centre in Hobart. They also have around 100 retail stores throughout Australia.

Vodafone’s home internet plans start from $60 per month for unlimited 4G, perfect for 2-3 users and a cheaper alternative to the NBN. You will receive a $10 discount per month if you are also a Vodafone mobile customer. For heavier internet usage, the Vodafone NBN Superfast Plan provides speeds of 200Mbps for 5+ users. You can save $15 per month on NBN plans by bundling with a Vodafone mobile service.

The Vodafone customer support options include online help, a Hobart-based call centre, 24/7 online chat and in-store support.
